Ethereal Designs is a lighting design consultancy with about a quarter century of experience shaping architectural environments through light. We provide brand-neutral design solutions guided solely by design intent, performance, and long-term value.
Founded in Mumbai in 2002 and expanded to Delhi in 2015, our practice combines time-tested expertise with an evolving design sensibility.
Our work spans hospitality, commercial, residential, infrastructure, institutional, sports urban environments and more.
Blending technical rigour with creative vision, we develop lighting solutions that enhance architecture, elevate human experience, and create lasting value.

Our Principals
Vilas Prabhu
Active in the lighting industry since 1987, in early part of his career, he was associated with some of the region’s leading lighting organizations, including Crompton Greaves India, Delta Lighting in Muscat. Over nearly four decades, he developed extensive expertise in optics, photometry, lighting surveys, energy audits, and performance-driven lighting design.
With a strong engineering foundation, Vilas has always approached lighting as both a science and an art. His ability to translate technical complexity into practical, efficient, and effective design solutions has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s approach to lighting consultancy. As Founder, he established the technical and professional foundations of Ethereal Designs, fostering a culture that values precision, integrity, innovation, and long-term performance alongside design excellence. His influence continues to be reflected in the firm’s commitment to creating lighting solutions that are technically robust, sustainable, and responsive to the unique needs of each project.
Jaspreet Chandhok
Jaspreet Chandhok is an architect by education and a lighting designer by over two and a half decades of experience, creating thoughtful, human-oriented lighting environments across urban infrastructure, sports, hospitality, commercial, residential, landscape, façade, cultural, healthcare, education and more.
Among the early practitioners of specialist architectural lighting design in India, she has played an active role in the growth and recognition of the profession through her project work, industry engagement, lectures, and mentorship. Her longstanding interest in the relationship between light, psychology, physiology and human well-being continues to shape her design philosophy today.
As Managing Principal & co-founder at Ethereal Designs, Jaspreet is an advocate of independent, brand-neutral design, creating lighting solutions that balance creativity, technical excellence, sustainability, and long-term value.
